事そうに折りたたんだ書状を上下に更に左右に丁寧に拡げ、更に油紙を取りだし同様に広げ、指で一本づつ寄せて数えた。　　広告！？だったかの厚めの紙に、粉末のくすりの時とそっくりの包み方をした。　　鉤素(ハリス)は太く、通しの２厘だった。　　獲物の逃れる力などで、切れることはなかった。　　ただ、釣り鉤を咥えた水棲ども、きっと大きな鰻が、水底の杭や大石の隙間に巻き付け、そのままにされたことは、あったかも知れない。　　想い出すことが無かったため、すっかり“記憶の海”の底に沈み、埋もれてしまったようだ。
