贅肉をそぎ落とした肉体の躍動する爽快感、そして類を見ない新しさ・洒脱が倦まず後退せずひたすら前進する。　　野獣的なそして神出鬼没・破天荒ですらある生命感、小股の切れ上がった、髄をそそる魅力、いつでもその時その時にどこかに見いだせる。　　ストラビンスキーのパルテノン神殿や大理石の彫刻のような、強靱な構築美を感じさせるJazzは少ない。　　睡っていた感覚がムクムク覚醒し屹立、こくのような味わい・立ち上る芳香、心地良い緊張と充実に包まれている実感。

Rollins（Ts）のパーンと突き抜け、踏み外す大陸的な胸の透く解放感！と、渇いた恣意のサウンドが堪能できる。　　”シンプルなJazzらしからぬテーマであったり、突拍子もないメンバーなど、意外な状況であればあるほど、傑作を生み出す”Sonny Rollinsの面目躍如たる傑作である。　　トゥル・ル・～＊、ギターのルンルン気分の登場は、幾度聴いても気分が晴れ々する。　　見上げるような巨体が胸を張り、大股歩きで闊歩する。　　豪快・闊達・奔放・自在・鷹揚・肝大、そして細心・ガラスの神経。　　ゆっくりと、遠い日楽しいあれやこれやを、断片的に掴まえ話してくれる。　　キラキラと輝き、自信と余裕そして洒脱に満ちている。　　”サウンドのサウンドによるサウンドのためのサウンド”、ふとそんな形容を想う。　　何か思想・恣意・メッセージ・感想を演奏しているのではない、一瞬〃の呼吸・吐息で明晰な感興を発射し続けている。　　みんなが、時代がずっと聴いてきた、手垢で汚すことができない、”アクアマリン”の輝き。　　映画音楽、後から映画を見ると、新たな想起する情景の刻印が押されてしまうだろう。　　それはそれとして、別の感興があるに違いない。　　Alfie's Theme（9:44）、合奏による希望に満ちたテーマの提出は、晴々とした良い気分に包まれる。　　K. Burrell（Ｇ）によるゆったりした演奏、S. Rollins（Ts）の豪快なストレートな低音・自由奔放に見えるインプロヴィゼーションは、とてもヒューマンな優しさを湛えており、すばらしくいい気分に包まれる。　　He's Younger Than You Are（5:13）、ゆっくりした夜明けのような・静かなアンサンブルのオブリガート、S. Rollins（Ts）の素朴な飾り気の全くない真摯なソロと、Roger Kellaway（P）のポロポロしたタッチの演奏は、乾いたロマンチックな叙情。　　Street Runner With Child（4:02）、速いテンポで颯爽と駆け出すユニゾン、一転してスローなテンポに、再び速いテンポで颯爽と駆け出すテンポでS. Rollins（Ts）の豪快なブローイング。　　Roger Kellaway（P）のスローな演奏のあとユニゾンで完。　　Transition Theme For Minor Blues Or Little Mal..（5:52）、ゆっくりしたテンポの合奏で開始。　　K. Burrell（Ｇ）の両腕を大きく振り回すような、大きく宙に踏み出すような胸の透く想いの演奏。　　Roger Kellaway（P）のポロポロしたタッチの演奏はロマンチック。　　S. Rollins（Ts）の豪快な割り込み風のブローイングは、ガキ大将が己の意見を声高に叫ぶ風でもある。　　幽玄の漂うアンサンブルを背景にPhil Woods（As）が優ししくコーダ。　　On Impulse（ 4:31）、弾むようなリズム部門の推進、S. Rollins（Ts）の豪快なブローイングで内省の苦悩が提出される、実に味わい深い。　　澄明な淡いピーチカラーの夕空・アンサンブルのオブリガートに浸食される、幸せな充足の想いに覆われ完。　　Alfie's Theme Differently（3:44）、いい響きに解け合った合奏による希望に満ちたテーマの提出は、晴々とした良い気分に包まれる。　　S.
